J.N.U. crisis revealed by Professor of J.N.U. Prof. Avijit Pathak

A few people like Congress took Pro-Pakistani stance in the move against article 370. It does not label all People of India as Pro-Pakistani or anti-national. A handful of Kashmiris were brainwashed by Pakistan. It does not label all Kashmiris as anti-national. Nathu Ram Godse killed Mahatma Gandhi, it does not label all Hindus or all Indians as murderers. Similarly, errant activities of a few students in J.N.U. should not label the entire J.N.U. as anti-national or all students of J.N.U. as anti-national. However, a section of media & vested interests have been successful in labeling the entire J.N.U. as anti-national due to the errant activities of a few students last year.

Providing affordable and quality higher education environment is the duty of govt towards its citizens. The commodification of higher education shall eliminate poor from higher education and breed inequality in the society which is largely poor in the Indian context. As per official data 40% of students of J.N.U. belong to the families whose monthly income is Rs. 12000 only. Poor students from all over India prepare for J.N.U. entrance because they can not afford very high fees of other universities.

On the one hand, there is slow down in the economy and the evergreen problem of unemployment in the country, we should not at least deprive off our students from affordable quality education.
