JLE.....THE MUSICIAN.

JLE.....THE MUSICIAN.

I chose the Title "JLE.....THE MUSICIAN." because this past Saturday was the first time since last year or earlier this year I had the opportunity to go back Home (THE STUDIO) yes THE STUDIO, besides God, going to my Father Reverend Homer Edwards Jr Gravesite, and the Gym is a sanctuary for me. Music has been my sanctuary since January 6, 1991 the night my Dad died. That night The Winans "A Friend" song was that warm blanket to get me through. That started my journey to make Music to do the same for others for whatever the mood there're in or whatever there're going through.

Since it's been a while since I recorded or got back focused on finishing The JLE Album Trilogy: "The JLE Experience, JLE WORLD, & Double Album JLE 4 LIFE/JLE FOREVER". I will make more music just ending this Album Series. The JLE Trilogy is Important to me because I didn't like my real name for an Artist name. I started going by LEG(LG) the E being silent, then it was Logan Storm this name I used the longest. One day a fellow female co-worker at Wayne State University asked me when I was getting back in the studio when I was pulling her trash. I told and what the album would be called. Then she asked what's my stage name? I told her Logan Storm and she then asked why not use your name. So, I was honest because we were cool and said, "I don't like my name". Then she gave me that Momma/Auntie knowledge and continued "Be Proud of your Name, your Parents gave it to you. You wouldn't want to create an alter ego or spirit with Logan Storm name. BE YOU AT ALL TIMES!!!" Not gonna lie, I held back the tears because I didn't look at my name that way. Then she added, " look at ALL THE MUSICIANS with Stage Names and the problems they have because the made that alter ego with a stage name". I couldn't argue with her. After that conversation I would start using my full name even in emails for my classes or anything business related. "JLE" happened organically from doing my Podcasts.

Now back to the Studio. ME and my producer Todd "THRONE MUZIK" Johnson" he's the Christian Hip Hop Dr. Dre when it comes to making music and his own hip hop albums. We prayed in the session like always (I do that backstage for all my shows). Then he asked, "how I was feeling and vibe I'm on for music." Now, I knew he would ask that and all last week I had no clue what to make for the Double Album. One Album will be 10 Amazing Gospel Songs & One Album will cover a lot of Genres and Be a Musical Vibe. I recalled "Wedding Song(I Do)" from the first album but I didn't make the reception song for the story I'm telling I started with this song. I replied, " I want to make an Wedding Reception Song but lively and up tempo." He said ok. We got started and MAN OH MAN!! We made some FIRE! It didn't take long to finish that one. I have a 3 hour session and we finished that one in 40 minutes. Now this when we get Musical. I haven't made an Acoustic Song yet. Acoustic is Guitar driven Sound but we have to add that JLE Soul Sound to it. Another FIRE Track made. Now we still got 45 minutes left. Then I thought you don't have an Intro for "JLE 4 LIFE/JLE FOREVER" let's knock that out. I wanted a Up Tempo High Positive Energy Sound so the moment you hear it you have to get up and move. Ladies and Gentlemen we made that Sound Happen! All 3 songs are some Bangers. This latest album is going to be a Musical Vibe and Journey.

I felt reenergized getting back in the studio. I don't feel complete unless I'm making music. I saw a clip of DJ JazzyJeff telling Creatives don't leave this earth and not get all of your creativity out into the world. It doesn't matter if you sell some, or give some away but your suppose to share your talents with the world. When I heard that I agreed and it reminded me of 2010 working at Wayne State University Student Center second shift. I was singing taking the trash out, at this time I stopped doing music. My co-worker Cliff came up to me and said, "Jeff you not right, how are you going to keep God's gift a secret from the world?" I replied "Cliff what are you talking about?" Cliff responded, "Jeff you are singing, you have an amazing voice that you are supposed to share with the world." He then referenced R.Kelly's "When A Woman Loves" song on how he brought back the soul sound of Sam Cooke and there's no telling who I might inspire with my music. That day at work I started back writing songs.

To conclude, we all have gifts or talents that the world needs and we need to share not keep to ourselves. Sometimes we can lose ourselves in work, family, or whatever. Hopefully, we keep our eyes on cultivating and sharing our gifts with the world. I was reminded over the weekend that people I know are watching what I am doing and it motivates them to step out and try to find or use their talents. For me there is no feeling like bringing to life a song thats playing in your head then after the work done playing the finished song and it sounds better in real life! I am saying if you have a dream pursue it, if you have gifts work on them, then share your talents with the world.

Jeffrey L. Edwards (JLE), I love how you mentioned the importance of cultivating and sharing our gifts. It's inspiring to hear about your experience bringing a song to life.
