Jinxing the No Hitter

When I fly I want to get to my seat as soon as possible. Usually in Group 2- I have plenty of overhead bin space. Sometimes there is a seat next to me that is open. I have looked at the one in the aisle seat, not saying anything.

When a pitcher is throwing a no hit game, announcers do not mention it. It's not like noticing a hitless game will cause a batter to hit a bloop single. They are in the game and not listening to the game on the radio or on television in the background.

Boarding times are longer. It depends on the size of the plane. Those PHX-LAX flights I took regularly had about ten minutes of boarding time. International flights might have forty minutes of boarding time.

I would rather arrive quickly and settle in. Some people want to spend as little time in the airport as possible. Remember when I missed a flight in Tokyo? There was a tight connection and for some strange reason they had us go through customs even though I was not stopping in Japan.

One thing I noticed as people sat down at the last possible second- no one in First Class shows up right before the doors are going to be closed. This is probably like the theory that successful people return their carts at the grocery store.

The seat next to me was empty as was one to my left. The more time that passes, the less likely it is until- son of a ...- a couple showed up late. People who arrive at the last minute check bags so they don't care about overhead bin space.

I cannot be upset that someone who bought a ticket and chose that seat arrived before takeoff. It is my best interests to sit down as soon as possible. We all endure the flight. Easing into your seat is the best course of action.

Sometimes there is an open seat. Flying back from Paris I had a full row to myself. At least I didn't pay for a First Class upgrade. I had less money then and they wanted as much as the original ticket cost. That was a good flight and you never know who will sit next to you. Hopefully it be no one so you can use both arm rests if needed.
