Jim Grace - The profession has lost a great one
Jim Grace - As far as I am concerned I've never worked with a better field guy. From my side of the fence he was a problem solver, consummate professional and endearing. A warm human being that extended the line between personal and professional, for the benefit of others based on his own strong ethics.
I met Jim during our founding year in business where he built our first Dicks Sporting Goods in North East Philly. While he could have belittled my efforts and ignored this little start up, he treated this "kid" as a veteran. We would go on to build numerous projects in our 19 years including a complicated expansion to Plymouth Meeting Mall that incorporated a 65,000 sf Whole Foods over a 350 car parking garage and a 40,000 sf Monastery on 40 acres for 14 cloistered nuns; to say we shared some unique construction experiences is an understatement!
My last encounter with Jim was at Quakerbridge Mall where out of the blue he called and asked me to come visit where we walked the job, caught up and reminisced. It was wonderful to just enjoy some time with him on a project that wasn't CREATE's, slow down for one afternoon and reflect on the good times we had on past projects. Little did we know there wouldn't be enough of those.
Please say a prayer for his family. The profession has lost a great one.

8 年Well stated Frankie. I had the privilege of working with Jim for 30 years. Jim always maintained a personal commitment to every project he managed, not because of the bricks and sticks but the people associated with the job. His ability to connect with clients, design professionals and contractors is what drove his success. I and this industry will miss his sense of humor, his talent and his ability to make things happen. Heartfelt condolences to Deb and his family.
