JFK and the Janitor
Bill Green
Do You Need To Evaluate Your Business, That Is Shared With A Partner Or Spouse, Because You Just Are Not Sure What The Value Is?
During a visit to the NASA space center in 1962, President John F. Kennedy noticed a janitor carrying a broom. He interrupted his tour, walked over to the man and said, "Hi, I'm Jack Kennedy. What are you doing?"
"Well, Mr. President," the janitor responded, "I'm helping put a man on the moon."
To most people, this janitor was just cleaning the building. But in the larger story unfolding around him, the janitor was helping to make history.
No matter what situation you find yourself in right now, you have to see the larger story that you're a part of.
You have a critical role to play in this wild adventure we call life.
Don't take that for granted!
Instead, think about the human beings on the other end of those stats.
We have no idea what type of impact our next business decision might make with someone halfway around the world whom you've never met.
Now, I realize some days, you might?feel like the person just sweeping the floor or taking out the trash.
But you're part of something much larger, a story where?anything?can happen.
Where a man or a woman can walk on the moon.
Dare to be great.

2 年Thank you for sharing this story. We all sometimes lose sight of the overall picture, and our own role in that picture. There are times when we can't see the forest for the trees, but we still should recognize that there wouldn't be a forest if it weren't for the trees, and bushes and grasses. We should strive to be the best at what we do contribute, and recognize the importance of the role of the cog in the wheel, or the shrub in the forest or the janitor at the NASA space station, and by our recognition of the importance of each such role give dignity to all who serve with their best.
