Jewish Moms On Campus? Great Idea!

What I love about the Mothers Against Campus Antisemitism group on Facebook (with around 60K members) is that they are such a pro-active bunch.

I've watched the group evolve since it was formed in October 2023 when everything changed practically overnight on US campuses - all the encampments were set up and the anti-Israel hate was escalating from day to day. It was an impossible situation for Jewish students.

The MACA moms have been doing all kinds of things to make the situation better all these months - signing petitions, making calls, writing letters, marching in the Israel parade, etc. And they share TONS of really important information with each other about what's going on - on every single campus. Who and what is really helping their kids.

But I really like the latest idea - for Jewish Moms to show up on campus. And not necessarily on their kid's campus - but wherever they're needed.

As usual, the idea was presented to the group to discuss - here is a tiny part:

"Now more than ever we need to get off our computers and phones and get on campus. This initiative, MACA on The Ground is looking for volunteers who are willing to show up on a local campus when necessary."

And as usual so far there are already hundreds of comments - mostly of Moms willing to drop everything and show up on campus. It sounds like they'll be wearing MACA shirts - which is amazing. Let the world see how much Jewish Moms care about their kids!!

I have a few recommendations about what Jewish Moms should and shouldn't do on campus -

My main suggestion is that they shouldn't mimic our enemies by shouting or protesting.

We need to remember that it's our job to provide the world with a better example of human behavior.

It's our job to create a good and harmonious environment so that everyone can learn from this example.

How do we do this? By creating good vibes! Here is a beautiful example of a huge group waving Israeli flags and singing in Hebrew

Here is another great example from the last few days -

When Oren Smadga??? was asked in an interview a couple of days ago how the Olympic team deals with all the disgusting things the other athletes do to put Israel down. He said - "we're not there - we're focused on other things" ....

That's the perfect attitude for us to have because it's our job to provide an example of how we can rise above all this petty behavior to a better way of getting along here.

It's our job to create an amazing atmosphere, and spread good vibes wherever we go. That's why the Olympic judo team is always so successful - look at the amazing Israeli spirit they brought with them to Paris this week - despite all the challenges they we're dealing with:

Mothers Create the Vibe

No one in the world understands the concept of creating a good environment for our kids more than mothers - it is the mother who sets the tone in the home, which actually defines how everything will go there.

So if the MACA moms do decide to "get off their computers and phones and get on campus" I suggest that they sit in a circle, and discuss what's most important to them - how to keep their kids safe on campus. They can do this by having a structured conversation in a very non-judgmental atmosphere. This is how they can tap into their group intelligence together and come up with the best solutions! It sounds really simple right? You'd be surprised how many other things are always pulling us in a million other directions to prevent us from strengthening our bond. We're not aware of it but if we become a bit more conscious of the importance of really connecting and listening to one another - we'll be on our way to ridding ourselves of this hate.
