Jetstar – The great disruptor
It’s hard to believe that 14 years have passed since Jetstar commenced operating as a domestic airline in Australia.
Today, the Jetstar Group is one of the largest low cost airline groups in the Asia Pacific by revenue and has flown more than 140 million passengers since it launched in 2004.
Collectively the Jetstar Group offers more than 5,000 flights a week to 85 destinations in 18 countries and territories across the Asia Pacific region. The Group operates a fleet of more than 130 aircraft.
The Jetstar Group comprises of Jetstar Airways in Australia and New Zealand; Jetstar Asia based in Singapore; Jetstar Pacific based in Vietnam, and; Jetstar Japan.
The Jetstar Group has grown from providing employment to 400 people in 2004 to about 7,600 across the Asia Pacific today.
Collectively the Jetstar Group offers more than 5,000 flights a week to 85 destinations in 18 countries and territories across the Asia Pacific region. The Group operates a fleet of more than 130 aircraft comprising of modern state of the art Airbus & Bombardier for short haul flights of less than 5 hours & Boeing 787-800 Dreamliners for long haul flights of more than 5 hours.
In the 2017/2018 year, two thirds of all Jetstar’s passengers (37Million) paid less than $100 for their flight.
Customers only pay for what they need, choosing between two types of fares – Economy or Business (on selected international flights). Once a fare is selected customers have the option to add a bundle of extras, which can include checked baggage, seat selection, in-flight products, fare flexibility, lounge access and Qantas Frequent Flyer Points
Jetstar has won many awards including Best Low Cost Airline – Australia Pacific seven years in a row from 2011 – 2017.
