Is Jesus the only way to Heaven? Part (2)
What is the gospel?
Is Jesus the only way to Heaven? Part (2)
John 14:1-6 (NASB)
1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
4 And you know the way where I am going."
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
Jesus spoke of Himself as the only way to heaven in several places besides John 14:6.
John 14:6 (NASB)
6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
????He presented Himself as the object of faith in Matthew 7:21–27.
Matthew 7:21-27 (NASB)
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22 Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
????He said His words are life (John 6:63).
John 6:63 (NASB)
63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”
????He promised that those who believe in Him will have eternal life (John 3:14–15).
John 3:14-15 (NASB)
14 “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.”
????The natural question then of course, who is Jesus?
????He is?the?gate of the sheep (John 10:7);?
John 10:7 (NASB)
7 “So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.”
????He is the?bread of life (John 6:35);
John 6:35 (NASB)
35 “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”
????And He is?the?resurrection (John 11:25).
John 11:25 (NASB)
25 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies.”
No one else can rightly claim those titles.
