Jesus Near Your Offering?
Mark 12:43-44
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
The above scripture caught my attention when I was reading one morning. Throughout my Christian years, this scripture has been labelled/titled "the widow's mite". But, this particular morning I got a different perspective of it that focuses on the fact that Jesus is near the offerings we give. Yes, we love the fact that the widow was the center of attention when it was time to give the offerings. Actually, She was noticed by Jesus because he was physically present when the offering were given.?
Today, Jesus might not be physically present when we give our offering in church, but if we?believe?he is omniscient and omnipresent, then he is near when we are offering our gifts, monies and services in his house.?
Will Jesus be able to single us out and say, look, this man, woman, son, or daughter offered more of his time, money and resources than the rest??Is Jesus able to give good reports on our offering??
Lord Jesus, help us to give in a way that you will notice us and give good testimonies about us. Forgive us for the past offerings that weren't pleasing to you. Amen.
