Jesus, I Call Your Name
Yvonne C. Freeman
I'm a Bible Christian. An author, poet and song writer posting poetry from my books inspired by the written word of God
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” – Matthew 6:6
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus ... I call your name. Not aloud so others can hear but quietly when no one’s around barely making a sound. Unlike others who shout I whisper your name. Shouting doesn’t get his attention, it’s what’s in your heart that counts that’s when Jesus listens.
I don’t need an audience to glorify his name. Shouting only brings attention to me, not Jesus when calling his name. I don’t need to broadcast what Jesus has done for me. Yet I willingly testify to the blessings he bestowed on me. I am a witness for what God can do. You must first believe, trust him be patient and he will do the same for you.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus ... some wear out your name. They don’t need a thing they just want to be seen. The louder they scream the bigger the scene. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus ... you know what I mean.
We call your name on impulse without thinking when something devastating happens suddenly, unexpectedly. Oh My God! The house is on fire. Jesus! An airplane crash. Lord Have Mercy! A car accident. Most often that's when we pray. Don't wait it could be too late.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus ... I call your name. When stricken with cancer, a physical illness too weak to stand on my feet. When I am lonely or afraid, having an anxiety attack, confused not knowing what to do. I call your name.
When I am sad or just mad, provoked to anger consumed with revenge. When death came calling a family tragedy, a broken heart unable to mend myself. When I thought I would die in the midst of a storm. Jesus, I called your name. There are fires, floods and tornados still happening somewhere in the world everyday. People have lost everything they had except the clothes on their backs. Would you call on Jesus if that happened to you?
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus… There is power in that name. Just saying it makes me feel better it’s hard to explain. When the storms of life rage on and I feel like I'm going through hell, somehow, I know in time that will change if I just hold on and call your name. I don’t know how, I don’t know when but I know it will happen because of my faith in Jesus Christ that's why I call your name ... Amen.
"As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me." - Psalm 55:16
