Jerry
On “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” Jerry Seinfeld asked John Mulaney if he knew why there’s an American Express “Black Card.” ?
(The limitless credit card made of titanium, which is only offered to the ultra-wealthy.)
John had a puzzled look on his face, so Jerry said, “Me.”
Jerry went on to tell the story of how he was shooting a commercial for American Express one day, and during a break between takes, a camera operator asked him, “Do you have the Black Card?”
Jerry replied to the camera operator, “No, what’s the Black Card?”
He then told Jerry, “There’s only three of them in the world.?The Sultan of Brunei has one. The President of American Express has one. I thought you would have the third one.”
The next morning, Jerry called the President of American Express and asked if there was a Black Card.
The President replied, “No, it’s just a rumor. It doesn’t exist. But you know what, it’s not a bad idea!”
From that conversation, the card went into development and they gave Jerry the first one.?
So, what can we learn here?
Don't be afraid to ask the boss a bold question.
And...
When you're the boss, keep an open mind when someone asks you a bold question.
