Jeremy Limson Spotlight
GEHC Edison Engineering Development Program
A page to provide updates and news on the US GEHC Edison Engineering Development Program.
Greetings, LinkedIn community! Prepare to be inspired by the remarkable journey and experiences of Jeremy Limson , a 2022 Edison, as we delve into his story:
?? Educational Odyssey: Jeremy pursued his studies at Marquette University, majoring in Biocomputing Engineering, where his fascination with software development took center stage. His academic journey was complemented by his involvement in a nonprofit venture that birthed a web application, designed to aid those affected by the COVID-19 crisis. This experience ignited a spark within him, fueling his passion for impactful programming.
?? A Pandemic Catalyst: In April of 2020, during the midst of the pandemic, Jeremy teamed up with students in Rochester. They sought to create an app to support those affected by COVID-19. With both of Jeremy's parents serving as nurses, the project resonated deeply. This drive to alleviate pandemic-induced chaos through programming led him to the intersection of healthcare and engineering. Collaboratively, they worked to create a web app streamlining COVID tests and vaccination appointments—an effort that showcased the power of programming for societal good, even though the nonprofit endeavor eventually reached its conclusion.
?? The Edison Experience: Fast-forward to the present, and Jeremy finds himself immersed in the GE Healthcare Edison Program. Drawn by GEHC's reputation in bioengineering and the program's rotational structure, he embarked on this exciting journey. Jeremy believes each rotation is an opportunity to explore a new diverse role. His first rotation at Edison Health Link focused on kubernetes and package deployment. Since then, he has transitioned to his second rotation as a Usability engineer. This added a novel dimension to Jeremy’s engineering skills. Gaining insights into human factors, often overlooked in traditional software roles, has redefined Jeremy's approach. He's now eager to infuse these insights into his software development ventures, particularly in the realm of C++ for embedded systems.
?? Cherished Edison Element: One of Jeremy's favorite aspects of the Edison Program is the bond he shares with his classmates. Beyond being colleagues, they've evolved into a tightly-knit circle of friends. Whether belting out tunes at karaoke or embarking on a Milwaukee River cruise, the camaraderie extends well beyond the workplace.
?? Invaluable Lesson: The rotational aspect of EEDP unveiled the stark contrast in management styles across teams and businesses. During his first rotation, Jeremy collaborated with a technical mentor based in Bangalore, and learned the value of seeking guidance beyond familiar territories, fostering his personal growth.
?? Crafting Impact: Joining GE Healthcare placed Jeremy at the heart of creating solutions that directly touch lives. Interacting with healthcare professionals and witnessing the real-world impact of their work is “immensely fulfilling” according to Jeremy.
?? Life's Melodies: Jeremy's pursuits outside of the office involve playing guitar and piano in a band with other Edisons. Right now they play at home for fun, but keep an eye out for "Justin and the Minions (and the Red Roses too)" at Summerfest in the coming years.

?? Milwaukee Charms: Presently calling downtown Milwaukee home, Jeremy enjoys the proximity to restaurants, friends, and the beach. However, a long commute and the general noise of the city have him considering relocating outside of the city.
?? Eternal Learning: Jeremy's appetite for knowledge remains insatiable. In addition to refining his software skills, he is considering taking advantage of the Edison "C-Course" program to pursue a Master's degree.
?? Aspirations: An important part of Jeremy’s long term goals is to put together a team where passion inspires productivity. He believes that by working towards a shared and meaningful goal, we can create an environment where "work doesn't feel like work."
? Engineering with Empathy: Armed with a software background and newfound insights into usability, Jeremy is ready to build systems with all users in mind. To him, usability is not just a box to check -- but a core aspect of his design philosophy.
