Jensten Technology, Media & Cyber – Who Are We?

In this article, I’m taking a short diversion away from the educational content this week providing more of a personal touch to my newsletter by way of introducing the Technology, Media & Cyber (TMC) team here at Jensten and taking a deep dive into who we are and help we can help our valued insurance partners.

Who are the Technology, Media & Cyber Team

Jensten's broader structure includes several divisions such as retail broking, underwriting, and London Market broking and the company has been actively expanding organically and through acquisition to enhance its service offerings and capabilities across various sectors.

The Technology, Media & Cyber (TMC) team is a team that sits in our specialisms division here at Jensten and looks to provide advice and placement within the Financial Lines sector with specialists across multiple lines of business including Technology Professional Indemnity (PI), Cyber, FinTech, Media and Life Sciences.

With access to global A-Rated insurers, the team can provide bespoke insurance solutions for all industries and sectors in the UK and Internationally with limits up to and over ￡100+

With a wealth of experience amongst the team across various product lines and specialisms, we can provide a customer-centric proposition where we can provide tailored products suited to our client’s needs.

Who’s in the Technology, Media & Cyber Team?

Kris Barnfather – Account Director

Kris has over 16 years of experience in the insurance industry, having started his career in 2008 in a new business development role.

Kris’ background in delivering insurance programmes for the Professions and Technology sectors has seen him work with a diverse range of industries including financial institutions, solicitors, media, and technology businesses. Kris has assisted his clients in placing complex international and global programs for a wide range of technology businesses including those involved in SAAS, Medical Technology, Fintech, and InsurTech. His specialism is in finding solutions for companies that have Cyber and Professional Indemnity Insurance exposures. ??

Now, Kris heads our Technology, Media & Cyber division, and while he has his clients, he is also responsible for a team of Account Executives who arrange solutions for clients. Kris is committed to providing clients with the advice they need to ensure their insurance programmes develop as their business develops.

George Grimshaw – Senior Account Executive

George joins Jensten with a wealth of experience in Professional Risks with a specialist focus on Cyber & Technology risks, working with SME, Mid-Market, and Corporate clients, nationally and internationally. Well-known in the Cyber and Technology market, George provides first-class expertise and service to his clients. George is a keen sports fan being a Season Ticket holder at West Ham United, attending most games, and also has an eye for pinstripe suits and tie pins! Chris Forster – Account Director

Chris Forster Cert CII is an Account Director who continues to provide bespoke risk and insurance advice to the Media, Science, and Technology community.

With a wealth of experience gathered over many decades, Chris offers advice and support to early phase proof of concept firms through to multi-national PLCs as well as working with other suppliers to these companies such as Incubators, Investors, Banks, Lawyers, Trade Bodies, and Service Outsourcers.

Sam Taylor – Account Executive

Sam Taylor is a Chartered Insurance Broker who specialises in the technology and life science sector. Throughout his career, Sam has worked with a wide variety of clients, from startups to multinationals, and placed cover in over 20 countries worldwide. Being based in Bristol, he has seen the South West life science and tech sectors go from strength to strength in recent years and has been able to support an array of businesses along their growth journeys. As part of our Technology, Media & Cyber team, Sam is responsible for working with companies, ensuring they understand what risks they face while negotiating with insurers to ensure his clients have an insurance portfolio that best suits their company and is cost-effective.

Dave Stead – Account Handler

Dave has been involved with insurance on and off?for most of his working life starting with Royal Insurance in 1988 following his dad who worked there as a commercial underwriter. Dave worked for several other insurers and brokers, originally worked at Coversure in Maidstone in 2004 and again in 2016, and enjoyed a spell in the City in 2019, pre-Covid. Dave then transferred to Jensten in 2022 and has worked in the Tech, Media & Cyber division as an Account Handler ever since.

Sharon Lewis – Account Handler

Sharon worked for two global insurance brokerages in the City circa 20 years ago and has worked for the Major UK Brokers in the 3 years she has worked in Insurance. Sharon is now an Account Handler for Jensten in the Technology, Media, and Cyber team.

Jessica Deegan - Account Handler

Jess joins the team at Jensten as an Account Handler, she initially started her insurance career on the Underwriting side focusing on the Cyber market for SME US accounts. After taking a career break to travel, she decided to switch over to broking and is excited to begin her career specialising in Cyber, Tech & Media within the team and wider market.
