Jens Laugesen launches new collaborative art film project

In collaboration with filmmakers and musicians, the Danish designer has helped create the art film and fashion installation 'Genesis'.  

The day before the fashion week, January 24, 2020, Danish fashion designer Jens Laugesen begins to present the art film and fashion installation 'Genesis' at Sirin CPH Gallery in Copenhagen.

"The film is a poetic visual analogy that merges the androgynous and philosophical design ideas that lie behind Jens Laugesen's hybrid design language with art photographer Henriette Sabroe Ebbesen's avant-garde, mirror-reflective vision," Sirin CPH Gallery writes in a press release that continues:

"Where Henriette Sabroe Ebbesen uses mirrors in her photographic universe as an interface between reality and fantasy, Jens Laugesen's design universe is known for exploring the dialectics of clothing, body and gender, where generic clothing is deconstructed to be reconstructed into new forms and semantics."

In the film, a man and a woman try to find their own inner and outer mirror image, and the two stand as distorted mirror images of each other's contradictions in a "surrealistic, dream-like universe."

The art film and installation was created in a collaboration between fashion designer and video artist Jens Laugesen , photographer and film director Henriette Sabroe Ebbesen, filmmaker Valdemar M?rkeberg, stylist Melanie Buchave and filmmaker Joesephine Kildal Kristoffersen.

The music is made by the duo Hellas, performing live at the launch on January 24, 2020 at the Sirin CPH Gallery at Frederiksberg in Copenhagen, where the film can be seen through February 6, 2020.
