Jenny Hayes: Pioneering Plumblink's Success and Transforming the Plumbing Retail Landscape

This August, Woman’s Month, Plumblink is putting the spotlight on some of the women who have impacted the growth and success of Plumblink.?

Introducing: Jenny Hayes, current National Showroom Manager?

Jenny Hayes joined Plumblink in 2009 as the company’s first female branch manager, overseeing the Distribution Centre in Lorraine, Port Elizabeth. Drawing on her extensive experience in the Transport and Logistics Industry, she implemented best practices while maintaining a fair, firm, and friendly approach.?

During her tenure, Plumblink expanded its business model by opening smaller retail express plumbing stores across the country, growing from 21 branches in 2009 to over 150 by 2024. Jenny played a pivotal role in this growth, including the introduction of Plumblink’s own brand, “Plumline,” which offers plumbing items, taps, mixers, and bathroom and kitchenware.?

In 2013, the Distribution Centre moved to the Sidwell industrial area, and Jenny transitioned to become the Branch Manager of the Newton Park express plumbing store. Here, she contributed to the design, growth, and establishment of a new store with a beautiful showroom, emphasizing client-facing and sales responsibilities.?

In 2022, Jenny was appointed as National Showroom Manager, leading Plumblink’s new “Plumblink Plus” stores. These stores feature a substantial retail showroom alongside the plumbing trade section.?

Her typical day involves diverse tasks, including hands-on buying for display items, collaborating with design and shopfitting companies, managing showroom upgrades, interacting with suppliers, analysing market trends, and handling showroom-related enquiries.?

Jenny’s favourite part of the job is working closely with stakeholders from concept to completion, witnessing the positive outcomes resulting from hard work and team effort. She also enjoys empowering individuals by providing tools and information to execute their roles effectively.?

In her free time, Jenny cherishes moments with friends and family, enjoys reading, and takes leisurely walks.?
