Jelly Bryce to be featured on American Lawmen Documentary Series! Author Mike Conti interviewed for show. Premiers Wednesday, March 23 at 10pmET/9c.
Some good news to share! One of my goals in writing the Jelly Bryce Trilogy I'm working on was to make the public more aware of Bryce and many of the other legendary law enforcement officers whose stories have quietly faded from memory.
Well, about a year ago, I was contacted by the producers of a new documentary series being produced by Cineflix/Discovery for the American Heroes Channel. The series is called AMERICAN LAWMEN, and I was asked to fly out to Oklahoma City to provide an interview for the segment they were creating about none other than Delf "Jelly" Bryce! Seems the producers read my first installment in the series, JELLY BRYCE: The Legend Begins, and they liked the presentation/depiction.
I was only too happy to participate, for not only did I get to spend some time in Oklahoma and help tell Jelly's story, I got to hang out with retired Oklahoma City PD Captain and author Ron Owens who was also interviewed for the show. It was both a privilege for me and a great experience I'll always be grateful for.
While there, Ron took me around to many of Jelly's haunts like Cattlemen's Cafe; we drove the route of the dynamite pursuit (depicted in FBI Odyssey); we visited the sites of the Ray O'Donnell shooting and the Underhill shootout and capture (depicted in The Legend Begins); and we paid our respects at the cemetery where Jelly and his family members were laid to rest in his beloved hometown, Mountain View.
I'm only now able to share the information about the show because the producers have finally announced it. I've gotta admit, I'm darn proud to be a part of this project, and I trust that the producers will do Jelly's story justice.
The Jelly Bryce segment (1 hour long) is scheduled to premier Wednesday, March 23 at 10pmET/9c.
The series itself starts with Allan Pinkerton: Saving Lincoln, on Wednesday, February 17 at 10/9c.
