Jed was named SEG MVP for the 2023-24 season. This annual award recognizes an employee based on the individual's impact on the organization during the past 12-months and their exemplary representation of SEG’s values.

QUESTION: What was your reaction when you found out that you had won the Dream Team award?

JED: I was super surprised! I wasn’t expecting it at all, so it was a really cool experience.

QUESTION: How has the last year been for you compared to others with the organization?

JED: It’s been extremely busy since we bought Utah Hockey Club. We’ve been doing everything in our power to make sure that the Oval was set up and ensuring everything was ready for the team to hit the ground running when they arrived. Plus, keeping up with all things Utah Jazz and Salt Lake City Stars.?

QUESTION: How did you get your start with SEG? What has that journey been like?

JED: I started with Larry H. Miller (LHM) in 2017. Then in 2018, I moved to the Zions Bank Basketball Campus full-time. In 2020, when Ryan (Smith) bought the team, I was hired full-time with the Utah Jazz, and I’ve been here ever since.

QUESTION: If asked, how would you describe your role to someone who didn’t know you?

JED: I am the Facilities Manager. I handle various building issues at the Utah Jazz practice facility, help manage the custodial team, oversee the Salt Lake City Stars practice facility at Franklin Covey, as well as the hockey practice facility at the Utah Olympic Oval.

QUESTION: What is the best part of your role? What is the toughest part?

JED: The best part of my job is working with all the different departments – we have a great team here. The toughest part is probably during the summer, since that’s the time we tackle big projects that can’t be done during the season. It’s my team's busiest time.

QUESTION: What is your favorite part of being with the organization?

JED: My favorite part would be the people! The team we have here makes it a great place to work.

QUESTION: Is this your dream job? If not, what is?

JED: I’d say it is my dream job. It quickly went from being just a job to a career, which I love. Growing up, I wanted to play basketball professionally, so having a career in sports is a blessing.?

QUESTION: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

JED: In 5 to 10 years, I hope to still be with the organization because I really enjoy working here.

QUESTION: Any advice/inspiration you’d give to someone looking to join the Utah Jazz or Utah Hockey Club?

JED: No matter what you’re doing in the organization, always have a great attitude and stay positive. Being helpful goes a long way.
