Jean T. Stennett, MPA, Joins Sylvester as Assistant VP of Research Operations

In her new role, she will help manage the launch of the Kenneth C. Griffin Cancer Research Building, which will double Sylvester’s research footprint.

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, has announced the appointment of Jean Stennett , M.P.A., as its new assistant vice president of research operations. Stennett, who brings extensive experience in health care administration and research management, will oversee research operations to support Sylvester’s anticipated growth with the forthcoming opening of the Kenneth C. Griffin Cancer Research Building, a 12-story, 244,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility on UHealth’s downtown Miami campus.

In her new role, Stennett will be a senior member of Sylvester’s leadership team, reporting to Sylvester Director Stephen Nimer , M.D., and she will be responsible for the efficient operations of Sylvester’s financial performance, faculty recruitment, space planning, shared resource administration, the Sylvester institutes and the Griffin Cancer Research Building research activation.

?Stennett?has a broad and extensive background in health care, having served in leadership roles in research administration at various institutions. Her expertise includes managing large-scale research operations, implementing process improvements and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

“Jean’s leadership will be an invaluable asset to Sylvester,” said Dr. Nimer. “Her experience and forward-thinking vision align with our strategic goals to enhance ?our research capabilities and strengthen our position as a premier ?cancer research institution, the only NCI-designated cancer center in the region.”

Stennett?brings a wealth of experience to the Sylvester leadership team, having served at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for more than 17 years. In her last role at MSKCC, she was the senior director of the department of medicine, where she worked closely with senior leaders in the design, coordination and implementation of clinical, research, education and training activities for 32 medical oncology subspecialties and supportive services across New York City and the surrounding regional catchment area.?

Most recently, she served as the vice president for oncology services at Holy Name Medical Center in New Jersey, where she was recruited as the institution’s first-ever true service line administrator, responsible for cancer strategy, business development, program development and clinical operations.?
