Transforming mission through research & scholarship
We are delighted to introduce the latest additions to our catalogue. Kathy Holley's "The Prayer of Silence" is part of our mini book series, designed to distill scholarly insights on mission work into concise, accessible formats. Meanwhile, "The Journey Concept" by Susan Van Wynen is one of our practitioner series, that bridges the gap between academic research with actionable, real-world guidance for Christian leaders and practitioners, ensuring a seamless blend of theory and practice.
In addition, we introduce a collaborative work with the intriguing title of 'The Mission Matrix' from Paul Bendor-Samuel and Kirk Franklin, which adds an interesting discourse on the historic contribution of missions.
The Prayer of Silence by Kathy Holley
Christian Contemplative Prayer is a spiritual discipline and a religious form of silent prayer, which is rooted in scriptural teachings and ancient practices. This book explores the lived experience of this prayer practice among practitioners who have faithfully engaged in this spiritual discipline for many years. Using extensive analysis of interview data from long‐term prayer practitioners, this book focuses on the silent form of prayer and its interrelation with well‐being and embodiment. Buy here
The Journey Concept by Susan van Wynen
This book addresses the need for a theologically and missiologically sound approach to strategic thought and practice that is community-focused, appropriate, and applicable in our ever-changing global and local contexts. The journey concept is not a model, but a mindset that draws from Scripture, story, history and a wide range of cultural experiences. It seeks to help organisation leaders, and anyone participating in God’s mission, navigate continuous change and multiple contexts and cultures with grace and discernment, while remaining firmly grounded and growing in God and his Word. The Mission Matrix
Paul Bendor-Samuel and Kirk Franklin, both experienced mission leaders with deep roots in theological education and international development, offer a refreshing perspective on God's mission (missio Dei) from the standpoint of the Protestant mission movement. Through their unique lens, forged by years of ministry across diverse cultural contexts, they invite readers to engage with what mission means in is diversity. Even the title has interesting roots. This book promises to equip and inspire both current and future mission practitioners by weaving together rigorous academic theory with the rich tapestry of lived experience.
