January always brings a bit of doom and gloom after the busiest month of the year you are faced with a huge lull in business that must be managed and possible at times just lived through.
Some key stats for hospitality
Trending showed occupancy growth in January despite red warnings and closures.
Occupancy grew by 3.9% to 59.8%.
Rate declined by just over 1% to a net rate of 116 euro.
Overall hotels had a strong start for January.
For pubs and restaurants the red warning storm brought a 10% drop in revenues for that week.
For the full calendar month comparison of 50 bars and restaurants we have seen a 2.9% increase in trade in January on average.
Bank holiday Bridget brought a 34% increase on the previous 3 weeks average of January highlighting their importance to the hospitality trade.
