January - a mixed bag....

Wow! A whole month into the shiny new year that is 2024. How are you finding it so far? I think it's fair to say that these first 31 days have been varied to say the least - with illness, projects, new clients and some familiar faces all playing their part. If you've been on my social media (and if not, why not?) you may have noticed my January QandA session, you can read a recap of my favourite questions below. The full list of questions submitted by followers (and my responses) will be on my website soon. I've also been talking about the benefits of professional images to glamping and holiday accommodation owners, asking which photoshoot style will work for you AND asking at what cost does AI come to artists and photographers?

All about Simply C – Q and A session??

I recently opened the pages of my social media accounts to my lovely friends and followers for an impromptu Q and A session – and they didn’t disappoint! Here are just a few of my faves - you can read more on my website soon >>

“What types of projects do you enjoy working on the most?”?

?When you love your job as much as I do this can be a difficult question to answer. I truly do love them all – If I had to pick then I would say that the repeat clients are always a delight. I feel as though I am building trust and adding a little something every time I go back. The clients get so much out of me that way and I feel a valued member of their team?.

“How do you handle revisions or feedback from clients?”??

?With open arms!! I insist on it...feedback helps the client for the next shoot and helps me immensely and eradicates any areas I may need to improve upon. I am forever learning and improving, I hope.??

“In your experience, why are professional images important for businesses?”??

?How much time do you have for me to answer this? I think that professional images are Simply priceless. They can really set a business apart from their competitors. They can tell your audience so much about your product and your people in just a few seconds. And a key part of that message is ‘we value our products and our people, and we’re invested’. I honestly can’t tell you enough how valuable professional images are – my blogs are packed full of examples and insights….???

AI - Creative game-changer or threat?

Photographer Tim Flack recently experimented with a popular AI platform which regenerated an image scarily similar to his style of photography. This same platform was recently forced to release a list of 16,000 names of artists whose work they have allegedly used to train their AI – including Bridget Riley, Damien Hirst, Rachel Whiteread, Tracey Emin, David Hockney and Anish Kapoor – unsurprisingly the art world has issued a call to arms against the technologists.

I know only too well, imitation is NOT the sincerest form of flattery and when the bots are being taught to reproduce in the style of existing artists and photographers it feels as though we are on dangerous ground.
