Global Risks Report 2023
The age of the polycrisis: "As 2023 begins, the world is facing a set of risks that feel both wholly new and eerily familiar."
We launched the 18th edition of the Global Risks Report in partnership with the?World Economic Forum and 苏黎世保险 earlier this month.?The report is essential reading for government, business, academia and civil leaders seeking to unravel the world's most pressing issues.
Top 3 risks:
1. Cost of living crisis?
2. Natural disasters?
3. Geo-economic confrontation
For the past 17 years the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report has warned about deeply interconnected global risks. 2023 is the year of the polycrisis, as per this year’s report – a term used to describe a number of cascading risks that overlap with each other in the same time frame. We've seen a return of bygone risks like inflation, cost-of-living crises, trade wars, capital outflows from emerging markets, widespread social unrest, geopolitical confrontation, and the specter of nuclear warfare which few of this generation's leaders or public policymakers have experienced.
Marsh McLennan's Richard Smith-Bingham sat down with Carolina Klint to unpack this year’s report.
“While there are numerous short-term fixes that can be applied, we really should view this through a long-term lens. Investments in health, education, critical infrastructure, and renewable energy all will help advance society and build resilience to future shocks.”
Carolina Klint, Risk Management Leader, Continental Europe, Marsh?

Consumer Trust in Healthcare
New strategies are required to build?trust?in healthcare, an industry not accustomed to influencers trumping institutions. 1 年It's obvious work has escaped every boundary put around it, employers are now creating flexible and attractive contracts around mass immigration especially from emerging economies. HR experts are beginning to embrace diaspora work models that retain quality talent irresepective of geography. We expect to see more of this changes now and in the future with Gen Zs pushing for this evolution of work. I expect this will possibly be a win-win for modern employers and employees.
