January Edition: Championing Patient Care -Spotlight on Dr. Njagi Vincent: Head of Pharmacy
AAR HEALTHCARE KENYA LIMITED
AAR Healthcare is currently one of the largest providers of outpatient healthcare services in East Africa.
At AAR Healthcare Kenya, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible individuals behind our patient-centered care approach. This month, we shine a spotlight on Dr. Njagi Vincent, our Head of Pharmacy, whose passion, leadership, and dedication are elevating the standards of healthcare delivery.
Dr. Njagi has played a pivotal role in enhancing pharmaceutical services across our network, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care. His journey is one of resilience, continuous learning, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
What inspired you to pursue a career in pharmacy, and how has that shaped your journey to becoming the Head of Pharmacy?
"As a child, I was fascinated by how something as simple as a tablet, capsule, or injection could make someone feel better. This curiosity fuelled my desire to understand the science behind medicines and ultimately impact the health and well-being of my community," shares Dr. Njagi.
What’s the most rewarding part of your role, and what key achievement are you most proud of so far?
“The most fulfilling part of my work is hearing from patients who have recovered or improved after following our interventions,” says Dr. Njagi.
Among his proudest achievements is fostering a culture of collaboration within the pharmacy and across departments, ensuring seamless patient care and operational efficiency.
How do you keep your team motivated and ensure collaboration with other departments to enhance patient care?
Dr. Njagi emphasizes empowering his team by encouraging autonomy and ownership of their roles. Regular quarterly meetings provide opportunities for sharing ideas and discussing best practices.
"Healthcare is inherently multidisciplinary," he explains. "Collaboration with nurses, doctors, laboratory staff, and other teams is crucial to delivering exceptional patient care."

Advice for Newcomers: “Focus on patient-centered care rather than just products or services,” advises Dr. Njagi. “The ultimate goal is to serve the patient.”
Unwinding After Work: Dr. Njagi finds biking to be his favorite way to relax. "Cycling clears my mind and challenges me to push my limits," he shares.
Fun Fact: He has a diploma in theology! "It’s part of my journey and quite a long story," he shares.
Alternative Career: "I’d be a farmer—or a ‘farmercist,’’ he jokes. I do small-scale farming when not practicing pharmacy. It’s truly fulfilling when you harvest vegetables from your farm instead of dashing to the market every time for them.
