January is coming! Are you ready to find a new job?

Christmas limitations, Corona virus, layoffs, travel bans and lockdowns. Hypercritical public figures telling us what to do and seeing them breaking their own rules. Conspiracy theories falling around like snowflakes. It is enough to make you scream and many of us have.

January is coming, the vaccine is coming and the economies of the world will restart. What about you???

I am a job coach and mentor, in simple terms, I help you to find your next job. I am good at it because of my background and other skills. What amazes me is people who do not put the effort in. I wrote a recent post, “How long until I find a job.” You can read this at https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/how-long-until-i-find-job-ron-mayne-associate-cipd/

Their lack of motivation to find a new job versus the benefits, why? I can understand the fear of finding a new job. You are putting yourself out there and you are going to be rejected time and time again before you are accepted. Sometimes by people who are not fit to get your coffee.

People spend more of their waking hours at work than they do with their own family members or friends in a working week. To have that taken away and be forced to find a new work family is scary.

For whatever reason you are looking for a new job, start now. I hear so many excuses for people putting off their job search at this time of year.

“Christmas is coming, I will start in the New Year.” “It is only the first week of January, I will start next week.” Before they know it February is here and you are still unemployed or you are stuck in the rut of the unemployable. Not from a lack of skills or education just a lack of motivation.   If you are only applying for 1 job a week, you are not motivated.

If you have not had your CV reviewed and checked by someone reliable, you are not motivated. If you do not adjust your cover letter to each job you apply for, you are not motivated. If you are not, you get the picture. A good first step to finding a new job is to stop, review, make changes and move on. Because if what you are currently doing is not working, it is time to try something different.

Everything has a lead time, the time it takes you to perform a task for example getting a bottle of milk from the supermarket.

Except now you have to allow time to put your mask on, queue to get into the shop, get the milk home, wash the outside of the carton and your hands. What is the lead time to find a job?

IF you are looking for a job, there is a chance that you can get a job, there is ZERO chance of finding that job if you are not looking.

Are you ready to find a new job???

How is your CV? Get it checked.

The CV is the first thing a recruiter sees if it is not good is gets passed by and so you. Examples https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/bad-advertising-how-good-your-cv-ron-mayne/
