January business news - sowing the seeds for a sustainable new year

Welcome to the New Year! Carbon Positive Australia has had a busy start to 2024 and we are excited to share some updates with you all.

How can we help urban climate change issues? The answer might be in our pockets...

Miyawaki pocket forests, that is.

As climate change impacts become more prevalent, our cities will become more prone to urban heat. This affects us all.

There are huge opportunities for organisations to collaborate and partner with communities across Australia to plant trees and build resilience. Pocket forests are a great way to develop initiatives that are aligned with your organisation's ESG goals.

Are you ready to take positive climate action today? Read below to find out how...

News from our planting sites

During the middle of summer, the field becomes a quiet place as we shift our focus towards planning and ordering for the projects in our pipeline. If you're curious about our projects for 2024 and beyond, you can find more information here.

At the beginning of the month, Jess and Louise embarked on a trip to Plantrite Nursery to observe the progress of the seedlings. Specifically, they checked on the growth and development of the seedlings from Eurardy and Warralakin, which were planted using seeds collected on-site. It's always a waiting game to see if germination occurs successfully, but early indications are positive, suggesting that the newly emerging seedlings are thriving.

This is a great sign as it means we'll have enough germination to proceed with the planned planting at both sites this year.

As we move closer to autumn, site preparation will kick into high gear. We're particularly excited about our plans to plant a further saltland area at Brookton. The area we have previously planted has yielded impressive results, contributing to the overall health and restoration of the land. Once again, we'll have the valuable assistance of the Noongar Boodja Rangers from Wheatbelt NRM who will be joining us to lend their support to the planting efforts at this site.

Meanwhile, preparations are also underway at our sites in New South Wales, Many Peaks near Albany (as mentioned in the article below), and Talbot. These locations are part of our ongoing commitment to reforestation and habitat restoration. As we gear up for another busy planting season, we are eagerly looking forward to getting the trees into the ground. Helping you to make a positive impact on the environment.

  • Australian ethical jewellery brand, Temple of Sun, for their generous contribution to us over Black Friday sales.
  • B2C Furniture donates to us every a customer chooses not to return an item of furniture, the saved emissions are turned into trees.
