Monthly Fundraising Highlights

In January 2025, 132 crypto companies secured a combined $1.57 billion in funding. This total includes six companies that raised approximately $121 million through post-IPO debt and equity financing.

As shown in the chart below, the top five investors took part in 19 funding rounds, leading four of them. Their investments spanned multiple sectors, including key narratives such as AI, DeFi, and DePIN.

Distribution of Fundraises by Company Category

In January, DeFi led in the number of deals, with 21 companies collectively raising approximately $339.3 million. In contrast, five wallet services companies secured a total of $189 million in funding.

Distribution of Fundraises by Stage

Seed stages dominated fundraising in January, with 22 companies collectively raising approximately $103 million. Public Token Sales accounted for the largest share, with $478 million raised.

M&A Activity

In January 2025, the crypto space saw 7 acquisitions spanning diverse sectors.

The chart below highlights the funds that reported the most recent fundraises through the SEC's Form D or D/A filings.

Token Unlocks: January and February 2025

This chart highlights major token unlocks in January and February 2025. The largest individual and combined token unlocks were by SUI, with two unlocks totaling approximately $136.89 million on January 3 and February 3, 2025.
