Summary: The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) of Morocco circulated a decision to key agents about the implementation of 5G in the country. Based on the decision, 5G technology will be implemented at the beginning of next year. The minimum requirement is 4G/LTE for all Cellular devices, TCU, mobile phones, etc. If 2G and/(or) 3G is the only technology/(ies) in the device, it will not be allowed for approval in the country. It should have at least a 4G/LTE technology. ?The decision is still in the final stage signatories for publication soon.

1- BOTSWANA:?NOW EXEMPTION LETTER?IN BOTSWANA?BOCRA made an announcement recently that they issue Type Approval Certificates for devices that are exempted. The equipment must go over the verification and validation of the Type Approval process. Kindly note that in August 2023, the agency communicated that the exempted equipment from type approval?is below:?
1. Personal Computers, Laptops, Tablets, IoT devices, etc., that are embedded with WiFi and Bluetooth transceivers. However, it's important that the WiFi transceiver must be Wi-Fi5 CERTIFIED?.2. Receive-only Equipment such as FM/MW/SW Radios, Televisions, Satellite Decoders, and Set-top Boxes.3. Vehicle-embedded Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (RTTE) like Bluetooth devices, navigation systems, remote sensors, and car keys. These must operate within the appropriate frequency bands.4. GMPCS (Global Mobile Personal Communications by Satellite) Mobile Satellite Terminals that bear an “ITU” mark.

1- The IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) of Singapore:
PROPOSED VOLTE REQUIREMENTS FOR MOBILE TERMINALS.
On 27 July 2023 IMDA announced that 3G services would cease on 31 July 2024. We would like to remind all equipment dealers of the upcoming changes to 3G networks and services in Singapore. Please take note of the following timelines:
i. From 1 November 2023: The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has stopped accepting new registrations and renewals of 3G-only mobile phones and non-VoLTE capable smartphones.
ii. From 1 February 2024: The sale of 3G-only mobile phones and non-VoLTE capable smartphones for local use will no longer be allowed. IMDA will invalidate the registrations of these equipment by 1 February 2024.
