January 2024 Perspectives
CIO Perspectives features Silicon Valley or Global CIOs that provide short answers to 5 questions I pose to provide readers 5 minutes of insights from today’s top technology leaders.
In this edition of CIO Perspectives, I am featuring Angela Bhurji . Angela is Vice President and Chief Information Officer at 霍尼韦尔 .
Angela is a highly accomplished technology executive with a career spanning 25 years in leading transformation, global initiatives, and service delivery.
"The big mega trends driving the world (AI, Automation, Sustainability, Aviation) and how we will leave this planet for our future generations. These are critical items and we all should care about them.
Building new revenue streams out of these opportunities is something every business that wants to grow rapidly should care and think about."

"Digital Transformation, Security and Data continue to be leading the priorities for all CIOs. We have to become more business leaders vs technology leaders in this space. Growing the business is key.
In the emerging technology space, Gen AI is a new exciting opportunity that is opening up the doors on how we can not only drive growth and productivity in the business but also open up new revenue streams by making products AI ready.
It's worth noting that the specific priorities of a CIO can vary based on the industry, size of the organization, and its unique challenges. As technology continues to evolve, the role of the CIO is likely to undergo further transformations to meet the dynamic needs of businesses."

"I can talk for hours on Gen AI. Organizations need to set a clear strategy on how AI will help in driving their business goals. This includes identifying use case (operational and growth), selecting the technology landscape and applying the people, process and data synergies to get the value out of the investment.
Any AI solution will fail without the right context or data. Creating a strong data governance model for high quality and cleansed and repeatable data is key."

"People is a business’ biggest investment. Defining and Cultivating a workplace culture is key and helps give the sense of purpose to the employees.
I always loved Cisco’s big bold statement on Changing the way we work, play, live and learn. This was never about the technology that Cisco has but how the world would be a better place.
Leadership development, talent management, Inclusion and diversity, and wellness programs are all key tenets on how organizations can effectively attract and retain top talent but also create a workplace culture conducive to the success and growth of the business."?

"Drive with People, Process, Technology and Data. Get strategic alignment, be agile, innovate, be open to change. Measure and adapt."
I hope your enjoyed these insights and I want to thank Angela for providing a view of her current priorities and mindset at Honeywell.
