JANUARY 2024
COMMERCIAL SCALE TEXTILE RECYCLING
2024 continues with the usual BlockTexx urgency. We are excited and a little emotional to be expanding our textile recovery facility’s processing capacity from 4,000tpa to a capacity of 10,000tpa.
The installation and commissioning is expected to be completed in the next few months. With over 200 partners in our BlockTexx supplier network (BSN) and the product demand onshore, the operations team is working around the construction to keep production on target. ?
And a special note to our key equipment supplier, Inox, who have been recognised at the?2023 Endeavour awards - winning Environmental Project of the Year for the collaborative work with BlockTexx.
AUSTRALIA-VIETNAM GROWTH PROGRAM
No-one was harmed during the Australian trade delegation to Vietnam last month…except for the occasional Pho, Banh mi and Bun moc.
The trip was the usual BlockTexx packed schedule of meetings and nightly events across the two major cities in Vietnam - Saigon and Hanoi.
The textile and fashion industry is of great importance to the local economy, employing over 5,000 workers with a textile market size of USD $37.7 billion. Of interest to BlockTexx is that the fibre market is worth USD $21 billion.
There was a serious attitude that Vietnam is ready for a textile recycling facility and to quote the Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Climate Innovation Center: “A green solution would be much appreciated.”
QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT MINISTERIAL VISIT
At BlockTexx textile recovery facility, Regional Development and Manufacturing Minister, Glenn Butcher, announced a new Queensland Government program supporting remanufacturing.
The ReMade in Queensland (ReMIQ) is a $10 million program to support Queensland manufacturers and recyclers to use recovered, recycled and reprocessed materials in their products.
This program provides funding to Queensland manufacturers and recyclers to help them use recovered, recycled and reprocessed materials in their products.
A much needed initiative to drive further uptake of remanufactured materials.
