Whitepaper

Sexual harassment is a pervasive issue that affects individuals in both physical and virtual spaces.

In partnership with Santa Clara University , we are thrilled to announce our collaborative concept paper, "XR Embodiment and the Changing Nature of Sexual Harassment" has been published by #Societies and accepted to the International Conference on Computer Ethics: Philosophical Enquiry (CEPE 2023).

The paper explores the impact of XR technologies on the nature of sexual harassment.

Here are some key takeaways:

  • The psychological impact of XR technology creates virtually real experiences that must be considered when addressing sexual harassment in virtual spaces (metaverse).
  • Sexual harassment in virtual spaces can be categorized as fixed, mixed variant, and unique
  • How spaces are defined can impact how a physical or virtual environment is regulated.

Our follow-on paper hopes to encourage a more and effective approach to mitigating harassment in XR spaces.
