January 2023 Community Newsletter

We are just over 10 weeks away from our UK Lean Summit. The first we've held since 2018. We have finalised the programme and managed to add some extra sessions to include new product development and healthcare. Do take a look at the agenda?here .

We are holding?Masterclasses ?the day before the Summit on Monday, April 17th. Each masterclass is a half day workshop of 3.5 hours duration. There are 4 subject areas to choose from:

  • Using the Lean Transformation Framework on your Lean Journey
  • How to Develop Effective Problem Solvers
  • How to Build a Lean Management System
  • Total Kaizen Culture

The masterclasses share our research on each of the subject areas. A key aspect of each session is "understanding the best ways to develop capability." We are strong believers in the concept of “Leaders as Teachers" to sustain a lean journey. That is leaders who take time to teach and coach their team, on the job, to develop their capabilities.

As you know, the benefits of doing this are huge. However, the challenge is to provide materials that enable leaders to do that. That's where the Teach Poster comes in.?Rather than a 100 page PowerPoint slide deck, we have distilled subject matter onto one piece of paper – a bit like an A3! This is much less daunting for leaders to use and also much more informal than looking at a screen in a class room.

We will share research on each of the subject areas, the online material around each?subject and case studies showing lessons learned. We think these will be useful for anyone trying to start, deepen or enhance their lean journey. We look forward to seeing you in April!

Best wishes,

Dave Brunt

P.S. The revised date for the Summit means Toyota can now speak at the event. In addition they have agreed to host Summit delegates at the Deeside Engine Plant on Thursday 20th April. More details of how to book will be coming soon!?
