January 10: Manufacturing Operations Software Group Call:?MOS (Manufacturing Operating Systems) – Do we NEED another acronym?
The term MOS (Manufacturing Operating Systems) has started to creep into the lexicon of manufacturing systems.? We have seen this terminology adopted by vendors previously identified as:
·???????? Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
·???????? Connected Factory Worker systems
·???????? Manufacturing connectivity platforms
Questions:
·???????? What are Manufacturing Operations Systems?
·???????? Do they represent something new, or just a renaming of functions that already exist?
·???????? Are they a solution looking for a problem, or a capability that provides value not available in traditional MES/MOM/MRP, etc.
·???????? What has been your experience with them?
