Bio:

Jannet is a mother, a Poet, Writer, Educator, Motivational Speaker, and Serial Published Author! Her motto is “Surround yourself with people and things that motivate and inspire you to be the best authentic version of yourself. Remembering to live life for you as it’s yours to live as you choose!“

She graduated from Norfolk State and Regent University and several other colleges and universities in the Hampton Roads area, where she secured several degrees that have supported and cultivated her love for reading and writing, working with children and adults, as well as advancing her professionally in the educational arena both personally and professionally.

Jannet is a woman of may skillets, talents, and strengths! She designs and creates hand-crafted items using various textures, mediums, and materials for her personal life and her business, ‘Crafted Write From The Heart.’ She enjoys spending time with her daughter, expanding her knowledge of reading and writing poetry, relaxing by the waters’ edge, and spending time with family. She has an adventurous natural spirit, enjoys being outdoors (hiking, swimming, skiing, sitting by and on the water banks and piers, and taking nature walks)!

She’s been on a multitude of social media platforms and sat with some our local and worldwide leaders not only discussing and promoting her business (Genius Is Common, Surviving Off Broken Pieces, Poetry Prose &Pizza, FYI Radio Show, Hampton Roads Vendor Events, Women’s Empowerment Summit, Xpress Yo’Self Book Club, Poets Lounge, Featured in I ASCEND magazine as one of the top 10 Trail Blazer’s in the June 2022 ed., Black Business Olympics August 2023 ed., and again in Black Women Author’s Summer 2023 ed., spotlighted as one of the top 40 Local Authors in the Authors’ Showcase in Newport News and books shelved as well, member of the NAACP and BCDI Hampton Roads Chapters, but also as an advocate for Black and Brown people giving us all a voice in which to speak freely! Her published works can be found in Newport News Public Libraries!

She’s played a significant role in the real-life love story “Hiram & Nettie”! Where she featured a part as a slave on the front line picking cotton in the master’s field alongside other slaves.

She’s been recognized in the community as an active engaged contributor to the embitterment of others through education and inspiration! An educator for 23 years in the public school system!

An active member of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and BCDI (Black Child Development Institute- Hampton Chapter).
