It all began in 2015 in a classroom at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where Simon Sinek's methodology & his book 'Start with Why', sparked Janma Bardi's questioning of the traditional methods of business. She always sought to create a greater impact than herself through the power of business opportunities, yet it was at that exact vivid instant that she gained consciousness that every company should start with the fundamental “WHY”, with the purpose of existing. After all, a business should be more than just job providers and economic movers. Let us not forget that human beings are, above all, emotional; therefore, when you determine a purpose for your business, you're establishing a reason as to “WHY” people should connect with you. The purpose allows you to be greater than yourself and the externalities you may cause; it gives you a mission, an ultimate goal.

Such an insightful realization took Bardi to be in the right place at the right time. After experiencing a turbulent period of change in her life, she ended up meeting Yossi Vardi, an innovative visionary and the pioneer for the STARTUP NATION that was born in Israel a few years ago. The connection was unmatched, and the desire to transform the world was shared. This took both Bardi and Vardi on an adventure that would then manifest into what today is Volcano Innovation Summit, which began with the essential 'WHY'. Our purpose, transforming lives and societies through collaboration and inspiration, moves us and reminds us of the importance of the work we are doing every day.

From our first edition in 2018 to our upcoming 5th edition, we have encountered challenges and, as a result, evolved significantly.
