The Jane Lemon Foundation
Today marks one year since the sad and untimely passing of Jane Lemon QC. We know she will be in many peoples thoughts today of all days, and hopefully the sadness many of us have felt will be replaced by the fondest of memories.
The Jane Lemon Foundation is now up and running (Registered Charity Number 1183791) and our Bank account is also operational. We have endured several challenging hurdles but are pleased to say that everything is now in place.
The objectives of the Foundation are;
(a) The advancement of education of young lawyers including by:
(i) Awarding to such persons scholarships, maintenance allowances or grants tenable at any university, college or institution of higher or further education;
(ii) Providing for their education and travel in furtherance of that education or to prepare for entry to the legal professions.
(b) The relief of sickness and preservation and protection of good health in particular by awarding grants to charities whose aims include research into allergies and their treatment, relief or cure, the useful results of which are published for public benefit.
(c) To relieve mental and physical sickness in particular by awarding grants to charities that provide counselling and support for persons under the age of 18.
Many of you knew Jane either personally or by reputation, and her passing was a terrible loss to many of us and the legal profession at large. If you are minded to contribute to our cause in Jane's memory, please do get in touch and we can explain how best to do so.
We have had a wonderful level of support in memory of Jane and any donation means so much. We shall work to ensure that it is put to good use and will be keeping you informed of our plans.
We sincerely hope that everyone is well in these very challenging times.
