Happy New Year!
And speaking of new, here is our 'New and Improved' newsletter. In this learning loop, find urgent accessibility news, read about an interesting project we're working on, and discover some cool tools you can play with—and call it work!
In April 2024, the DOJ mandated that all state and local governments and their vendors comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards under the ADA. Any e-learning developed for these entities must prioritize accessibility to ensure equal access for all learners. Compliance becomes mandatory by April 2026 for larger entities and by April 2027 for smaller organizations. Even if this ruling doesn’t directly apply to you, making content accessible is simply the right thing to do. Since accessibility updates can be time-consuming, start planning now by assessing your current courses. Use Artha’s handy checklist to get started, or reach out to us for help.

Aamir: Exciting things are happening with our latest training program for a Venture Capital firm’s portfolio companies! While the course itself is a blend of engaging content, we’re taking things to the next level with with podcast-style summaries, offering a unique and dynamic learning experience. Stay tuned for the case study coming soon – can’t wait to share the results!
Harish: Did you know HMRC has this cool tool called the Virtual Empathy Hub? It’s a collection of personas, like Claudia, who’s sight-impaired, or Simone, who’s dyslexic, designed to show the challenges people face with poorly designed websites. You can try their tasks and really feel how frustrating it can be—and it’s such an eye-opener for creating more inclusive designs. Definitely worth checking out! https://personas-prototype.herokuapp.com/
Garima: I love to share what we learn through our work, and it's especially gratifying when people find our content useful. My article Avatars: Enhancing eLearning Through Innovative Interactions, was one of the Top 10 Articles of 2024 at TrainingIndustry.com! I share our step-by-step guide to developing effective avatars for eLearning courses in there.
