A. James Global Salutes The Black Brain Trust Leaders During Black History Month

During Black History Month, A. James Global, Inc., (AJGS)?pays tribute to the original Black Brain Trust leaders of the 1940s who pushed for equity and fairness in business and fought for greater economic freedom and entrepreneurship that benefited all Americans of all nationalities.

The Black Brain Trust
The Black Cabinet, Federal Council of Negro Affairs, or Black Brain Trust

The Black Cabinet, Federal Council of Negro Affairs, or Black Brain Trust, were the informal terms for a group of forty-five African Americans who served as public policy advisors to the White House from 1933 to 1945. The council was concerned with civil rights and economic rights—paving the way for more successful entrepreneurs.

Prominent members included Dr. Robert C. Weaver, a young economist from Harvard University and a race relations adviser, Eugene K. Jones, the Executive Secretary of the National Urban League, Philip Randolph, president of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, and the only woman, Mary McLeod Bethune (front, center), educator and founder of the National Council of Negro Women. Bethune was also a personal friend of Eleanor Roosevelt.

The Black Cabinet are often credited with laying part of the foundation of the Civil Rights Movement that developed in strength in the postwar years and benefitted not only Black entrepreneurs but business leaders of all ethnicities in America including: Native American, Latinos and Hispanics, Mexicans, Asians, Middle Easterners, and Africans.
