James 1:5 - You Have Divine Wisdom At Your Asking

James 1:5 - You Have Divine Wisdom At Your Asking

I believe that there are certain Bible verses that every #CEO and #leader needs to know. The wisdom of the Bible is timeless, and it still works in our world today. Today, I want to share with you a few thoughts on James 1:5

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

This verse comes from the CEO Experience CXP CEO Retreat Guide.

This verse profoundly reminds us that, as followers of Christ, you have access to divine wisdom that can guide your business decisions, shape your strategies, and strengthen your resolve to lead your business for Kingdom Impact. Here’s how this principle can shape the way you lead.

Recognize the Need for Wisdom

James 1:5 begins with a crucial point: recognizing your need for wisdom. Often, leaders rely on their own knowledge, experience, or intuition when making decisions. But no matter how skilled or experienced you may be, there will always be times when you face questions you cannot answer on your own.

Acknowledging your need for God’s wisdom is a mark of humility and maturity. It is a reminder that your understanding is limited and that true wisdom comes from God alone. By recognizing this need, you open yourself up to the guidance that only God can provide, ensuring that your decisions are not just informed by experience but aligned with His purpose and will.

Ask God for Guidance Daily

James 1:5 encourages you to actively ask God for wisdom. This is not a one-time request but an ongoing dialogue. Business decisions—whether small or significant—benefit when they are made with God’s guidance in mind.

To develop this habit, start each day by asking God for wisdom. Consider dedicating time during meetings or strategic planning sessions for prayer, inviting God into your decision-making process. In doing so, you’re not just asking for solutions but seeking to align your entire business with God’s vision. This daily request for wisdom also sets an example for employees and peers, reinforcing the importance of faith-led leadership.

Trust in God’s Generosity and Willingness to Provide

James 1:5 emphasizes that God gives wisdom “liberally and without reproach.” This is a promise that when you ask for wisdom, God doesn’t hold back. He generously provides what you need, often beyond what we expect.

One More Second Step Comment

Leaders ask great questions. The Well Done leader asks God great questions daily. James 1:5 offers an invitation and a promise for Christian business leaders: when you lack wisdom, you can turn to God, who will provide generously and without hesitation. In a world that values knowledge, experience, and skill, you have something more: divine wisdom that can guide your paths and give you confidence in every decision you make.
