Jam, Lights, No Action

Jam, Lights, No Action

On Sunday afternoon, I was driving home and saw something I haven't seen for a long while.

Someone in the opposite lane was driving towards me with their hazard lights on.

Not only did they have their hazard lights on, they were also doing about 40 mph in a 60mph zone. So they had deemed their car not quite hazardous enough to drive at a reasonable speed, equally the jam behind meant, not quite quick enough to prevent holding up a dozen or more people.

I'll probably never get the chance to speak with that driver and know what the challenge was with their car.

At the speeds they were doing I suspect they really should have got on with finding somewhere safe to pull over for a moment and get some professional help, or perhaps put their foot down a little more and avoided being the jam on that side of the road.

The decision to go middling along past lay-bys, slowing the journey for a dozen or so fellow drivers, surely can't have been their best option. Damaged car systems running along for any amount of time tend to break sooner rather than later. Quick intervention tends to reduce the likelihood of bigger costs later down the line.

Yet how many business owners do the same with their business?

Worried that the system is broken they nurse along with the hazards on, become a log jam for others relying on them to get things moving swiftly in their business, advertise to the outside world that "something isn't quite right in here'.

And then the costs mount up to a quiet crescendo before the repair bill becomes too much to shoulder.

Feel familiar?

If you fancy a quick chat to switch the hazard lights off and get your business moving forward at pace free from any jams then feel free to drop me a message.
