Jakarta and its surprises
I'm writing this from my old desk back at home in Jakarta.
I had to be away for a family matter, but I'm also glad to use this opportunity to get updated on the latest thing about Indonesia. After all, it is the most exciting market in Southeast Asia, where something new is always happening--and you want to know what is new.
As a result, I wrote this piece about my observation on how QRIS (and e-payment in general) has taken off in the country. It's hard to believe that only five to six years ago, we considered Indonesia as a heavily cash-reliant market. But today, we even purchase food on street stalls using our mobile phones. Something that used to feel impossible.
Next week, I will be back in Singapore--and I'm looking forward to seeing you at Echelon Asia Summit 2023!
The e27 content team will also host a workshop about Contributor Programme at the e27 Ecosystem Booth at 10.45 AM on June 14. If you have always wanted to write for us, this is your chance to say hi and learn how to get started.
