Let’s start with a very prevailing rhyme about Jaipur
“Amer ki Sheela Mata, Chandpol ka Hanuman;
Sanganer ka Sanga, Jeet laya Raja Maan.”
Yes, these three gods/ goddess form their own identity in the history and culture of Jaipur. And it is often said in the Marwari language that idols of these 3 were won by Raja Maan in the game of Polo and thus he brought them to his estate of Jaipur and established them and today, they are the saviour and protector of Pink City. Isn’t it interesting?
India is a land of diversity. We have cities like Delhi and Mumbai which are said to be the 24 hrs running blood. Lifestyle of these cities is in no way inferior to that of the well developed cities of world. At the same time we have cities like Lucknow & Hyderabad which are known for their rich culture and traditions.
But what is unique about Jaipur & Jaipurites is the mixture of both. Jaipurites are often known for their modern western lifestyles and their simultaneous rich traditions. We live in a city where both Moti Doongari Ganesh temple and Gourav Tower are equally populated in evenings. We live in a city where the youth is writing new landmarks each day. At the same time where the older generation stills wake up before sunrise just to have a glimpse of the Mangla Jhanki (the first Jhanki of the day) of Govind Dev Ji.
We are known to produce the best CA’s of the country. And why won’t we.
Ek to Rajasthan, upar se Rajasthan me bhi Jaipur, upar se Jaipur me bhi baniya….Hisab Kitab aur profit calculations to khoon me hai hamare
Inspite of living in the 21st generation, Jaipurites have protected their Ganga Jamuni Tradition quite superbly. Jaipurites are a mixture of all castes and religions and proudly celebrate all the festivals with same devotion and happiness. Be it Eid or Deepawali, Mahavir Jayanti or Christmas, Chetichand or Lohri, we Jaipurites take part in all festivals with same feelings and happiness. And not to forget Sankranti, our very own festival, a day when the only place where you see entire Jaipur is on the terrace.
Visit Jaipur on New Year and the high musical discos shall force you to experiment some dance moves on the disco floor. Visit the city in Sawaan and chants of Om Namah Shivay all around the city shall surely give a soothing feeling to the ears.
We have produced some of the best skilful actors in form of Irfan Khan and Rajiv Khandelwal. Krishna Poonia and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore have already uplifted Tiranga in Games. Tune into the songs of Ila Arun and you shall hear some of the best Rajasthani folk Songs.
The example of unity of Jaipurites was best seen during the year 2008, when severe bomb blasts shook the nerves of Pink City. After the black evening that made the city stunned and silent, the next morning saw a new Jaipur that stood together to gather the broken pieces. Jaipur again started living the normal life and people again started their daily schedules.
Jaipur may not be a well developed city like Ahmedabad or a financial capital like Mumbai or highly esteemed city like Delhi, but surely Jaipurites feel the social responsibility and patriotism in their blood. At the time when entire country was praying for Nirbhaya, Jaipurites also took an active part in the campaign and if you were in city at that time, you could have surely feel the colour of Jaipur.
Its hot chilly summer and the Jaipurites won’t take much time to visit GVD/ Guddu for having cold coffees and ice creams. And make sure if you visit Jaipur during December when the temperature is touching 3 degrees, you have a hot cup of coffee at Statue circle. And yes, come during Monsoon Season and you shall surely love the heart robbing natural scenes that can be seen from the Nahargarh along with Dal ke Pakode.
From the Old Tangaas at Badi Chaupar to the Metro Train at Chandpol, from the pre marriage affairs at Jaldhara and Jawahar Circle to after marriage family outings at Statue Circle and Jalmahal, From afternoon noisy enjoyable movie shows at Rajmandir to quite but romantic shows at Cinepolis in late nights, from rich traditional Chokhi Dhani to modern highly fun loving Pink Pearl Water Park, from Adarsh Vidhya Mandir school to the Delhi Public School, From a roadside Pani Puri wala to the multi cuisine food of The Marriot, From Cricket matches at Ramnivas Garden to the 183* knock of MS Dhoni at SMS stadium, Rajasthan Royals in IPL to Jaipur Pink Panthers in Pro Kabbadi League, From shooting of Shuddh Desi Romance to shooting of Bol bachhan, From the famous Rajasthani Lehangs shops in Johari Bajar to latest western outfits at Wills Lifestyle store, Jaipur is all about diversification.
So at last I would just conclude by saying that Come to Pinkcity, as fondly called by people, and surely Jaipur shall make you its own.
