Dear Son,
Today is a special day for all Odiyas around the globe as we celebrate Rath Yatra, known in English as the Chariot Festival. Those in Odisha are privileged to witness the highest fervor with which this festival is celebrated across the state. However, Odiyas outside the state, no matter where they are in the world, ensure that they celebrate and participate in the festival. Over time, many non-Odiyas, including those from other countries, have become devotees of Lord Jagannath, testifying to the boundless love and affection that Lord Jagannath showers across the world.
Rath Yatra was celebrated in our apartment society today. It was heartwarming to see all the Odiyas here come together to celebrate the festival every year. The three Lords were placed on the Rath, or Chariot, and moved from one tower to another. Hundreds of devotees, regardless of the language they speak, gathered to offer their prayers and love to the Lords. We also joined the celebrations. As it was your first Rath Yatra, we took you closer to the Lords. Seeing others pull the thick rope tied to the Rath, you insisted on joining them. Despite my initial fear, as people of all ages were pulling the Rath, you ensured you were not pushed. Though the heat from the ground soon became unbearable beneath your feet, your devotion and enthusiasm did not wane. Despite the struggle because of the heat that you felt like many others, you continued to pull the Rath with determination. In years to come, when you read this, you'll be amazed at the power of your own will at the age of five and half. Remember, as they say, "where there's a will, there's a way."
After the event, we came home and watched the live Rath Yatra from Puri. In the evening, we went to our clubhouse to offer prayers to the three Lords. Along with Biplav Panda Dadei, Lopamudra Panda Nani, and Dev Nana, we enjoyed the mahaprasad and then returned home.
This brings back memories of my childhood when I visited temples with my parents to see the Lords. Your Mumma ( Abhipsa Mishra )spent many years in Puri during her childhood and had many opportunities to pull the Chariots. Those days, things were simpler, unlike today where crores of devotees throng to Puri to witness the grand event. I've often seen it rain on the day of Rath Yatra and it rained today too. Your Mumma's deep love for Lord Jagannath and His blessings have made her a wonderful human being and filled her life with happiness.

As you grow older and perhaps move away from us, please keep this day in your heart. Rath Yatra is not just a religious event; it’s a day of immense pride for all Odiyas. Even if you can't attend the event, wherever you are, at least watch it live on TV or YouTube. Your Swaralipi Panda Maeen even though she is in Dubai prepared sweet dishes that are offered to Lords on Rath Yatra ( Ananya Mishra, CEng )
With love and devotion to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Maa Subhadra - I end this note.
Loads of Love
