Is Jaguar rebranding bad or what?

After all the critics let's se if new identity will resonate or fall flat.

Hi friends,

In the past few days, I’ve been flooded with messages about the social media backlash over?Jaguar’s new identity ( Antonio Stasolla , in particular,?has gifted me gems like this one). If you were to ask for my opinion, I’m still on the fence about whether I like it or not, but one thing’s clear: it’s a bold move. And, as with any big shift like this, only time will tell if it’s a winning strategy.

This week also brings us more Christmas ads, including two of the funniest ones I’ve seen so far:?Heineken?recreates?Home Alone?at the pub, and?Orange?delivers a musical about the classic parents-versus-teens dilemma of wanting a smartphone for Christmas, set to the tune of?Carol of the Bells?(another iconic scene from?Home Alone).

Last but not least, Haaland is the new face of?Beats by Dre?in a witty commercial (not quite?the masterpiece of Beats and LeBron’s spot, but still great).

Have a good read.

Jaguar's New Look: Is the Backlash justified or Over the Top

Jaguar has unveiled a perplexing rebranding strategy that strays from its traditional luxury aesthetic. The new identity, driven by the 'Copy Nothing' ethos, features a playful wordmark with rounded letterforms and a vibrant color palette reminiscent of 2010s fashion trends. Accompanied by unconventional lifestyle imagery and abstract slogans like "delete ordinary," the brand's fresh direction has sparked mixed reactions. The reimagined logo now flipped and integrated with stripes, aims to convey 'exuberant modernism,' though its connection to classic design principles appears tenuous. As Jaguar prepares for a design reveal during?Miami Art Week, questions linger about how this bold new identity will translate into their vehicles. Jaguar's approach appears to diverge from traditional branding strategies, prompting discussions about the future of automotive marketing. With a concept car reveal set for December 2, the industry watches closely to see if this new identity will resonate or fall flat.

In a whimsical new advertisement,?Beats?showcases Manchester City striker Erling Haaland in a captivating winter wonderland set in Norway. The ad humorously parodies Haaland's intense training routine, escalating to absurdity as he casually walks across hot coals, much to the indifference of onlookers. Still, it emphasizes the stunning Norwegian landscapes and Haaland's outrageous antics.
