I again continue with me and my maid :) ....
As I said she and me share the miscellaneous errands for an hour.. I write them on the board so that she could do it well in my absence. #delegation
Yesterday was an exciting day as the Jackfruit was ripened well and I had written her to process it and keep in the fridge...
She went home finishing her work and we forgot about the fruit that day... The evening I had a dining plan with sister and I suddenly recollected about the Jackfruit.... I opened the fridge to see but could not find it... I searched the kitchen top, some other corners but in vain.... Then I called my maid asking where she kept it.... She told me exactly the place and the pot in which she kept... I did not see it still... Then I called another maid to check if she saw it .... or by mistake if she threw it away.... BUT NO.... That was not the case.
We had dinner...we slept but I was still on the jackfruit tree.... The next day I opened the fridge and saw the pot she mentioned . I find that the seeds were very much there.....
and then clicked the tube light....She had processed the Jackfruit and threw the ripen bulbs and kept the seeds well preserved in the fridge.... To validate my assumption, I asked her and she confirmed doing the same. #validateassumptions
Just when she had joined, we had another jackfruit finished and had the seeds boiled. By the way Jackfruit seeds are great source of protein and taste fantastic when boiled with salt. Left was the work for her to take out covers of boiled seeds….She did this exercise twice last few days. Today was a different work, the bulbs had to be taken out as well as seeds to be saved… But she didn’t have an idea that we were wanting the ripened bulbs… poor girl.. she hails from western Maharashtra which hardly have jackfruit trees, shifted to Pune ( my city ) recently and started her first job with my housekeeping… apparently I came to know that she is just two years elder to my daughter… Considering this situation, it is quite natural that she may not know how to treat a jackfruit in hand, moreover she saw me always eating seeds... #empathy
And that gave me a some more retrospective bits… Although sometimes we are good in instructing, we may not be complete to the requirement. We may be complete but the receiver may not have enough knowledge to do it…. All ends are well and practical happenings
I left myself with the self-learnt lesson –
“Right amount of information and detailing is essential for onboarding and helps ensuring the task done well” .
There are situations where we may need to go a little bit more than what we plan and groom but that helps to get started well. I relate it to many situations like on-boarding a new joinee, grooming on a story, instructing housekeeping Or office staff, explaining a context to un-related audience and so on....#onboarding
