I have been in this recruitment gig a while now (10 years), I have witnessed an array of significant shifts in the technology sector—from the advent of groundbreaking new technologies and the increasing reliance on cloud infrastructures to the normalization of remote work and, now, the rise of the multi-skilled Data Engineer, Software Developer, Architect, CTO, and more. These changes have not only redefined the landscape of tech recruitment but have also reshaped the expectations and requirements of the industry at large.

Let's take a step back to a time when a Data Engineers focused solely on data and a Software Engineer was concerned with coding in a specific language. Those days seem like distant memories compared to our present situation, where businesses are on the lookout for Engineers who are "outside of the box thinkers," proficient in a variety of skills and languages. It's not uncommon now to find a job listing for a Data Engineer with a software background or a Product Manager who has a technical background in Data / Software.
