Jacinda Ardern will be missed

Jacinda Ardern. A heart centered leader in a non-linear, geo-politically uncertain, economically challenging and power hungry world. Regardless of her policies, this is not a commentary on that, but I will miss her demeanor, her aura, her disposition to lead with empathy and a softness that was abundantly available ... until now. It's harder to be soft, than hard because she was vulnerable. In tech, we have a software that provides, "WYSIWYG", or, "What you see is what you get" - and I think Jacinda was a WYSIWYG human being, who happened to play the role of a PM and world leader. That's hard. Whether it was showing up to meetings pregnant, or responding to a crisis with emotion, she felt like a friend as opposed to a leader.

Don't get me wrong, she has demonstrated many times that she won't take any BS, dish it back in fact, take bold unpopular decisions, and stand toe to toe with the who's who of power players.

But she won't be remembered for that. She will be remembered for being herself: WYSIWYG. I hope her legacy stays, and she inspires the next generation of business and political leaders to be even a small fraction of her: comfortable in her own skin.

We are headed towards a crazy time. The environment is taking hit after hit, the harmony between human and nature is decreasing, Ahimsa is occurring in many forms - the world needed her more than ever. May we be lucky enough to find another leader just like Jacinda sooner than later...

Very nicely put, Sumit Sharma! She represented New Zealand very well and worked very hard. She spoke about her burnout and wanted to devote time to her family. While she will be missed but her love and passion for her country will persist and who knows she may consider returning back in the future in some other capacity like the former Australian PM Kevin Rudd becoming US Ambassador!

I am a fan but it’s important to understand she is not nearly as popular at home as she is internationally. It’s likely she would have lost the upcoming election. She was amazing through the crises - the White Island disaster , the massacre and COVID. But the draconian COVID response has left significant problems for the country and promises on child poverty and housing have not been fulfilled. The decision to stand down has been muted for a while.
