Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00am ET

This webcast covers the initial on-scene size-up for first-arriving officers at all incidents. It sets up the framework for the entire fireground experience from assessing the incident scene on arrival to setting up an IMS organization. Students will use a systematic mental checklist using the CASH acronym (Command, Actions, Size-Up, and Help) for on-scene size-up reports, which can be used at all incidents. Topics include the establishment of command, the 13-point size-up factors, first-due company assignments, and additional resources that will be needed.

Lexipol: What Is CSST? And Why Firefighters Must Know. Lessons Learned from 2 LODDs

Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 1:00pm ET

CSST, or Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing, is utilized in homes across the country to deliver propane and natural gas. If lightning strikes on or near a structure with CSST, it can travel through the structure's gas piping system, resulting in a gas leak or a fire. These fires and the presence of propane or natural gas in the structure can post unique risks and challenges to the fire response.

You’ll learn:

  • How to recognize a possible CSST fire and understand the risks associated
  • The dynamics of a CSST fire
  • Steps you can take to increase awareness about CSST-related fires

IAFC VCOS: Generational Classrooms: How to Connect with All Ages

Thursday, June 6, 2023, 4:00pm ET

Contemporary instructors are facing an ever-increasing challenge: mixed generations in the classroom. While this has been an age-old factor, it's been amplified by the technological renaissance, the atypically large cultural gap between recent and tenured generations, and the rapidity with which retirements and recruitments are occurring due to a dynamic, volatile job market.
