Fire Engineering:?Big Fire—Big Water for Rural Communities

Tuesday, February 25, 2025 1-2p ET

One of the keys to successfully extinguishing a large-scale fire is developing a sufficient water supply system/operation and applying streams to the seat of the fire. Performing these operations in a rural environment with a limited pressurized water supply system makes the process much more demanding. This webcast will discuss topics such as the design elements of high-volume rural water supply systems (water system planning—pressurized and static sources, high-volume distribution equipment, preplanning for high volume rural operations, etc.), design elements of rural water supply equipment (apparatus, portable pump, hose systems, and high-volume distribution devices), strategies for high-volume rural water supply and discharge operations, and the overall implementation process for these elements. The program will review systems and operations that have been successfully implemented during actual incidents. This program will help you develop the “big flows” for the big rural fires.
