What inspired you to get into engineering?

Engineering requires problem solving skills which I am always keen to solve issues and bring up solution. I have also had a huge interest in the engineering field since high school. I am passionate about Engineering and have a huge desire to make positive impact.

Tells us a bit about your career background and how you got into engineering?

I have several years of working experience in the engineering field. I have always been fascinated on how things work and enjoy solving problems which grew my passion for engineering. My journey in engineering started in my high school days where I excelled in the STEM related subjects, I proceeded in studying BSc in chemical engineering at the University of Lagos Nigeria, upon graduation I secured a position as a process engineer in an engineering consulting firm, I grew over the years in my career and had the opportunity to work on several projects. Through out my career, I have continuously pursued professional development opportunities, attend industrial conferences , visited various oil and gas facilities, participated in advanced training programs and obtained certification in specialized areas. I am currently studying to obtain a masters degree in oil and Gas engineering at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen.


What excites you most about your current role and why?

The ability to proffer solutions and bring to life key ideas to enhance the progress of an engineering project.

How do you feel the business helps support you and other females in engineering roles?

It supports a whole lot in terms of encouraging interest and participation, creating inclusive work environment by establishing diversity, training and unconscious bias awareness initiatives, it enhances networking and support groups, mentoring and sponsorship programs, professional development and leadership programs, work-life balance and flexibility, recognition and awards.


What do you feel the future of the profession for women is in engineering; is it headed in the right direction, what changes do you want to see?

Well so far yes, it is headed in the right direction however there are still issues regarding gender equality in engineering that needs to be addressed in some parts of the world.


Finally who is your hero / inspiration?

Jesus Christ is my hero/inspiration.
