Welcome to this week's edition of the Sustainable Future Newsletter. This newsletter will update you with this week's latest news and information in the sustainability sector to help your business transition towards a greener future.
This week’s newsletter is focused on celebrating International Women's Day, also known as IWD, which grew out of the labour movement to become a recognised annual event by the United Nations (UN).
The origins of IWD can be dated back to 1908, when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter working hours, better pay and the right to vote. A year later, the Socialist Party of America declared the first National Woman's Day. Since then, the 8th of March – International Women's Day, has become a date to celebrate how far women have come in society, in politics and in economics.?
Sustainable Future News is proud to shine a light on the remarkable accomplishments of inspiring women leading the charge for sustainability. In honour of International Women's Day, we have compiled a collection of inspiring quotes from these remarkable women and unveiled the 25 nominees for ‘Women Shaping Our Future’ by Event solutions provider ChangeNOW.
Also this week, we spoke to ENGIE Impact managing director Mark Chadwick about the right steps to take to decarbonise your business and cleared up any confusion about the differences between being carbon neutral and net zero.
